  1. Thank you Tempest for allowing me to reminisce on my time as leader in DF, even if my memory failed me on some of the questions. It was great to look back on everything. I appreciate all of the questions and interest. As for current DF, they will make their own mark and hopefully have the opportunity to discuss all the cool things they accomplished during their time as I have been able to. I have nothing but faith in them as their story goes on. I also wanted to mention to @true that despite how everything ended with DF that I appreciate all that you put into it during your time as leader. Your impact was obvious from day one, and the effort you put in meant a lot to me as someone who has loved that clan since 05. As you move on to your next chapter in Tempest I wish you nothing but the best.
  2. As much as you want buddy. - Always take challenges head on, don't back away from them (I know this sounds cliché). Whenever something seems too difficult understand that you can overcome it, and when you do it will change the trajectory of your clan forever. - Focus on improvement constantly, big and small. Recruitment, time zone expansion, skills, member wealth, wilderness strategies, clan environment, forums, discord, image, presence in the game, whatever it may be. - Don't be afraid to get creative when it comes to recruitment. The clan world still has a lot of room for growth, and you may need to do things differently than what you are used to in order to get an edge long term. You may also have to teach people new things that they've never done before, just as others had to do for us in the past. - Give your members opportunities to make an impact. This means you will have to make an effort to find out the skills and interests of every single person in your clan and think outside the box on how to utilize them. Also recognize that some members just want to chill and show up to fights/events, which is cool too, but the point is to not get stuck in a bubble that you and your officials are the only ones who can help with direction and improvements, because you will be hindering your clan's capabilities by doing so. Take the time to know your people. - Admit your faults, don't be stubborn. Growth requires acknowledgement of your own flaws, and also makes you more relatable. This is also true for clans. - I guess this last one is more specifically for @true.... not that I think you need it. Leadership is about taking the first step through the door, but reminding everyone that you all walked through that door together. Preparing the food and letting everyone eat before you do. Servant leadership is the most important and most effective form of leadership because you build trust and respect through emphasizing the importance of the people around you and giving them a sense of value. Help them when they are struggling, and praise them when they are successful. But make the tough decisions when you have to and provide the vision for what you want the clan to be and the direction that you want the clan to go in. I could probably spend hours giving advice so I'll cut myself off there.
  3. Kind of like I mentioned earlier, my legacy isn't important. I just hope DF know I did my best given the circumstances, and hope that I didn't disappoint. Let's just say Vanzant since I see him spamming this topic and we had a conversation about it not too long ago lol, I'll throw some love his way. But really I don't remember a lot of STs that didn't end up getting warlord. Legitimately no clue, I don't think I was part of the naming process. It started out as our junior clan, which we scrapped then basically became a PK Leader rank and stepping stone to warlord. My guess is it's just a creative name to suggest they were "elite" fighters. Not that didn't gain traction, more so that I just never got around to doing or couldn't figure out how to implement them. One example was we had the applicant reviewer rank, but I wanted to gather a group of more specifically social members to reach out to applicants and newer members in order to build a better overall feeling of welcoming. I struggled to figure out how to organize that as I had all sorts of ideas and didn't necessarily want to flood the clan with new ranks, so I mostly just pushed members to post of new app topics and try to reach out to newbies. It was important to me to build an environment that outsiders would want to join.
  4. He didn't really try to convince me that hard, he more so hinted a few times that he wanted me to do it. I was leaning towards not doing it at first, but then decided to when I saw some of the Retired Forces crew were interested in it. I think people who like these AMA's were either REALLY into the scene back then (which is fine), or want to know about your clan in relation to theirs. That second one I don't really have much to add to I don't think. Also I'm sure some know that me doing this has caused some drama, that I'm not going to get into. No not me personally, I know some of the people who were kicked do though. I understand the reasoning for it, and I wasn't planning to unretire or anything so it didn't really affect me. I'm going to be honest with you, I don't think I have the brain power for this lol. And I wasn't personally close with a lot of people from other clans, but I'll do my best. DI - Bibbleboy. Didn't know any DI I don't think and I just liked watching his fight videos. I legitimately can't remember if he was even in DI when DF was around, but fuck it. Otherwise in a previous answer I listed Ghjjf so you can use that as a backup. RSD - Miner Cire. I don't really know many people from RSD and I just remember the name lol. DS - Franzk. We talked a lot and he was always cool to me. TT - TMO. Yeah he joined DF but not during my time so this counts damnit. EH - Broski. Just seemed like a chill guy. Same with Xero. EOS - Mr Nickos Jr, not sure why I just always liked the guy. COR - Robtokill. He was a pain in our ass, but he gave a damn and I can respect that. VR - Cera. Thought he was good at leading fall ins. Or I think it was Minedtosmith who said I kicked him from DF so to make up for it him too. I picked pretty much all officials because my memory is trash and I'm in bit of a rush, sorry! Because you're a bro, bro. And bow down to Washington. You were the best binder, duh. WAS? True snitched on us discussing this and so Ves messaged me on FB claiming he didn't smoke until he was 18, so negative. Definitely a silly dude, but he was our silly dude. Absolutely the masses of ex-DS joining. Trying to balance maintaining our culture and bringing in a lot of new people was a serious challenge and definitely did not see it coming. Also nh clans crashing fights were really starting to take off then, so that was a difficult situation as clans tried to work together on anti-crashing and what not.
  5. Purple cape, I can dig team 8 too though. If I hadn't joined DF probably would have tried joining Sacred Templars. Then after they closed maybe Eternal Honour or The Titans.
  6. I can't think of one specifically, but at the beginning of the Corr rivalry when they were hunting us all the goddamn time was pretty brutal. It took a lot of effort, focus and improvement to overcome that since at the time they were clearly the better clan. It was pretty frustrating for awhile. I loved every point of it lol, but I'm going to go with my point as leader. Just because I was so concerned about the state of the clan after Death retired, and that we were able to turn it around and even take it all the way to the top of the mountain. It was really cool to see happen and be a part of... just the level of persistence from DF. Man I'm an angel I don't know what to tell you ? I honestly don't know. Nothing to the no honor level, but we definitely tried to befriend clans for recruitment reasons lol, which was just kind of dickish in a way. We had spies, but everyone did, and I didn't even use the spies at all. But really I can't think of anything specific that would have been deemed NH, maybe one of my members from back in the day has a secret to tell that I don't know about though.
  7. Flinstoneman, I think he would have been a really good leader. I don't know of anyone who was around him who was like "meh he's alright." Everyone liked the guy... he was smart, a great warlord, and had a presence that everyone felt. Calm, cool and collected.
  8. 1. F2P, or at least back when I did play, I don't exactly know 100% what F2P fights look like nowadays. I liked the simplicity of the combat styles because I think it really forced creative approaches to try and get an edge. Organization condensing into piling one person and creating spam towers to try and intimidate the other clan/help members see the pile and motivate them, then hugging trees and rocks to try and tank, then forcing hybrids to play more of a role to stop dragging/hugging, sending snipers to the other clan's fall ins to try, etc. 2. I think leadership fundamentals transcend time, and to me its always about people. Don't let the ego get in the way and try to help others in your clan contribute to their highest capabilities and in ways that they want to. Give them opportunities to be creative and utilize their personal skill sets to help your clan improve. There are many different ways clans can be improved, so picking peoples' brains and giving them opportunities will help your clan down the road. 3. Nope nothing from my time with the Jagex team honestly. I think Ross has been in touch with them over the years due to in-game complications, but nothing from my team back in the day. 4. I got a kill on Robtokill once in a fight, which felt good way back then lol. My account has bad RNG (no it's not me) so I didn't get kills very often. 5. I don't really know if I did anything that could have been considered "nh", I pushed pretty hard against that stuff because I was a huge fucking dork. Death jokingly said we were going to become an nh clan once and I created a leaving topic.... I'm lame. ? So many things. First I wish I would have made more of an effort to stick around longer than I did. Secondly I wish I would have spoken to members 1 on 1 more... I did that a lot more than I think most leaders would but it still wasn't good enough in my mind. Thirdly I would have liked to define the Council role more, because there were periods where I think they didn't know what to do and I didn't guide them super well on that. Fourth I wanted to create a rank where members would nominate other members to maybe like a 1 or 2 month role to contribute to goals or finding solutions to challenges that the clan faced. Honestly I don't see F2P as a hot fix, no offense to Tempest. I think more clans getting involved can help it grow, but I don't think it's quite at that point yet nor is it going to be as simple as that. Either way maybe a balance of the two would give them access to a broader group of players as far as member growth goes, but then you also have to think about the group that is in there now and if they want to make a switch. Or would that move diminish their current base since they like to P2P? They still pull 50ish people to fights so they aren't by any means dead, and they wouldn't want to make a move that would put them at a worse point. I don't think DF's growth potential, or any clan's really, necessarily comes from picking one of the two pvp options, but instead I think it is other things. Let's use True as an example, the guy markets himself super well. He is personable and gets along with a lot of people. In marketing himself he ultimately marketed his project Tempest, so the clan grew fairly quickly. Now look at forum activity, he draws people to his forums through topics that peak the interests of multiple generations of clanners (think of DI forums back in the day, same thing). Then there is discord where people are being invited to it on a day-to-day basis through essentially word of mouth marketing. All of these things draw people to Tempest and opens doors for Tempest to grow, and only clans marketing themselves can draw both current clanners and future clanners to them. That I think is the key to any clan's growth opportunity, not just DF's. Or I'm super out of touch and don't know what I'm talking about, also a viable option. GOT IT THANKS GUYS. No, because our member base back then really liked F2P. Maybe we missed an opportunity there, but we were thriving and enjoying F2P, and what your members enjoy matters a lot.
  9. You can chime in anytime you want my friend, we'll make this a Bunty + Homedawg + Kiwi AMA. I honestly don't know, I think you'd have a better idea than I would. It just seemed... underwhelming I guess? I remember him having so much potential, and I don't really know how everything went down (you and I have talked about it a little), but it just ended up being different than what I expected. Maybe his peak potential was as council, and there is no shame in that, or maybe he just started to lose interest at the wrong time. I really don't know.
  10. 1. Crash wars started I think when Lego took over. And thank god for that, they would have driven me bonkers lol. 2. There is another question later on about dream lineup of people not from DF, so for this one I'll do DF: Council: Lego, Blue Wall, Xshinobizx, IMK, Rene, Murray Warlord: Flinstoneman, Homedawg, Peterh, Veseble FA Manager: Dark Knighty 3. There is an image floating around out there somewhere of me ripping into DF in members forums listing a bunch of things that pissed me off lol. I could be pretty harsh sometimes, and that was an example of one. Other than that I wish I would have spent more time having conversations with people who broke rules rather than just giving them the boot. A lot of things can be resolved with a simple conversation. I think maybe Beevis. I had some good conversations with him back in the day, and despite his goofy sense of humor he had a good head on his shoulders. He made it to the justice rank, he probably should have been council. I think we ALL have an understanding that it is @true and why it is true ?but no seriously it was Peterh, simply because of the way he left. Council: Amosstorm, Broski, Kidefence, Robtokill, Mr Nickos Warlord: Cera, Radicalsurfu, Ghjjf, Avster I think we beefed too much with too many clans, causing unnecessary shit like crash wars. Obviously that was not specifically a DF thing, but it was definitely something I noticed. Also sometimes DF could be too selfish, I remember reading Bishinmo talking about why he hated DF so much and actually remembering that specific event happening. We had tendencies to irk people I guess, even allies back in the day (we pissed of Valor a couple of times). I think maybe long term that led to a lot of problems that DF experienced well after my time. Yeah I feel you, I agree on the long fights. DF had a "fight to the bitter end" mentality and some fights got way out of control. I never experienced a 12 hour+ one I don't think, but they were definitely getting to that point with 8-9 hours before we'd call it quits or the other clan did. The issue is a lot of DF members actually liked those long fights, but it was one of many reasons I ultimately threw in the towel. I liked the days of wars, and short pk run ins were fun (like 1.5-2 hours) but they got way out of control for me and I started not enjoying it anymore. I don't have a specific fight in mind, as they all started to get bland for me, but a lot our members liked them so we kept going. We had a P2P Leader in 06 and tried to do more P2P, but we were too F2P focused at that point that very few members took it seriously. It was something Death liked, we were mage bank pking in like 05 late at night and he wanted to have more of a hand on that side. My legacy isn't really something I care about. Mostly I think it is the DF members that deserve the credit for whatever my legacy is. They showed up time and time again when I needed them. Idk huge mistake though. Not much. I know they at least used to have a lot of gay guys in there, and I think they embrace it lol. Well the fact of the matter is when it came to DS the only clan that was even close to their level at the time was DI. We liked to fight them now and then to challenge ourselves, and they were always cool about it, but we had a long ways to go before we got to the point of overthrowing them. I had a lot of faith in DF's ability and I absolutely think we could have gotten there, so outside of DI already being their #1 challenger I like to think we could have gotten it done at some point, but we would have had to do some heavy recruiting. I definitely wanted to be the one to take down DS I'll tell you that much lol. I think that started with Death honestly. The guy had a consistent drive to just never give up and always take a challenge head on, and he was teaching everyone how to get an edge on opponents from day one, whether that was through recruitment, fight tactics, or building a solid culture of competitive people. I know I haven't been in many of your guys' clans before, so I can only speak from my previous experiences before DF, but no other clan I had been in was even close to resembling what DF was. It was a huge culture shock to me when I joined. When he built that foundation we then had patterns to follow for continued success. I definitely learned some things from him. That's my theory anyways. Well since I was Council at the time I hated Robtokill because I was in a lot of those conversations with him or heard the aftermath of those conversations lol. That being said I started to gain more respect for him down the road. I kind of did this version of strictly DF and then strictly outsiders a few quotes up, so mash them together I guess lol. 1. I liked Sacred Templars a lot, so let's pick them. Another clan I just thought were super respectful and gave us good fights back in the day. 2. Rot. They aren't nearly the sole reason for what the clan world is today, but they definitely played a role in it. Their tactics were and still are cheap and I think made it hard for a lot of people to even enjoy clanning. Idk when my nephew wants to play checkers with me, but he swipes all of my pieces off the board before the game even starts and claims victory, I don't call him the best checkers player of all time. 3. Tempest - I don't know this clan super well, but I like that it has a bunch of old faces mixed with new faces and you guys are doing your own thing. I like that you are tackling F2P as well, in a way hopefully helping to bring it back. DF - What can I say, I think people have seen me kiss their asses enough lol. I love this clan. RoT - See above. AF - I don't know much about them, but I know they are P2P force to be reckoned with. SV - Don't know PD - Don't know DR - Don't know, just recently heard about them AC - Don't know VR - I respect that they are still around doing their thing. I've seen some of their members in DF's discord too and they seem like chill guys. DK (lol) - Don't know Sorry I'm an rs boomer. 4. Weirdly I liked the smaller clans I was in, The Blue Dragons and The Midnight Warriors. I just liked small communities, they were refreshing and it felt easier to make friends for some reason. I wish Nemesis would have lasted longer though because I liked where that was going initially. 5. No I hated playing rs, I only played for clanning. I actually appreciate the pvm aspect more nowadays because I can come home from work and turn my brain off; not have to worry about anything. But I stopped actively playing rs well before I retired from clanning. 6. This question has been asked a few times so I'll try to beat around the bush less with my response. Let's say if I were leader DF would probably be doing F2P on top of P2P. That being said I just want them to do their own thing, and it totally does not make a difference to me what they decide to do with their time. I always liked Rune Raiders and Demonic Empire. I almost applied to Demonic Empire at one point. Not sure why really outside of liking the vibe of their members. I joined Awaken when it first started up and was called The Storm, my friend Avster recruited me to it. I can't really remember where most of the people in that clan were before they joined Awaken, but I didn't really know anyone and I found it difficult to make friends. It was fairly forgettable to the point where Blue Wall and I forgot that we were even in it together. I mostly didn't like the leader General Shop, I thought he had an ego that was a bit undeserved, and I remember some people who were in the clan told me they thought the same thing lol. Either way I bailed on it pretty quickly, and my leaving post was pretty brief basically just telling them that I didn't feel like I clicked with the clan. They never flamed me, nor were they rude, it was just not my vibe. I do think I should have maybe stuck around for longer and gave it more of a chance though. As I was typing that up I realized it was pretty similar to when I first joined DF so now I'm starting to think the problem was me. ? Surprisingly when the wilderness got removed and Bounty Hunter became the replacement it didn't really affect us too much. I do remember pretty much everyone being bummed out, but we made the best of it. I think our first fight in Bounty Hunter was against VR (maybe - bad memory), and I remember that being pretty enjoyable. I think we got a kick of having targets being other DF members and joking around about that, or if it was one of the members of the opposing clan our members pushed everyone to try and kill that specific person lol. But it was basically a large, open, gray space that got boring after awhile. I think a few members called it quits after the update, but ultimately we adapted and moved on. I only had any sort of communication from him the first time around. I was retired at that point, but he did not have anything nice to say to me lol. Here's the issue with being gone for a long period of time and coming back to immediately gain high ranks. First of all you just don't know what tactics are being used in fights, that's pretty basic. But secondly people only follow people they respect, and if they don't know you that means you have to re-earn their respect like it is day one. I think it would have been much better for Death to unretire as a member and build his way back up, because he absolutely had the skillset to do so, I just think he may have expected too much from a group that didn't know him and they couldn't take him seriously as a result. I never dove deep into it, that's just what I suspect happened based on some conversations with others afterwards.
  11. Peak of strength was 2007 DF after DS closed as a bunch of those ex-DS members joined DF. I think DF had a mentality of not being afraid of a challenge and not backing down, which I think certain people respected and liked which led to a lot of them joining us. I also think DF mastered organization at that time giving us an edge against a lot of clans; eventually other clans caught up though. We were aggressive, and sometimes too aggressive, but it was a winning formula. 1. Because while Death would probably never admit it, becoming friendly with clans was part of the recruitment formula. I did the same thing. Long term stability requires you to make others want to be you rather than beat you. Sometimes we succeeded in that and sometimes we made enemies and hurt ourselves. Having a strong sense of what your community was meant that while some people would leave others would relate to it and stick around. It was a challenging balance, but I don't think you can argue with the results. 2. I think DS, but honestly I can really only think of two clans that did end up closing and mass joining - DS and Valor. We loved Valor members but I don't know if their mindset as a whole fit super well with DF's. I think DS members had more of that, but DF was definitely not for all of them. 3. The biggest challenge was the Cor rivalry, but I wasn't leader at the peak of it. Balancing the large influx of DS members was the hardest part, simply because I had to try and get that push to the top spot from it, try to make everyone feel welcomed, and simultaneously not let DF's culture crumble. It was a tough balance, but it worked out alright. 4. Now you're just farming for Valor kudos ? I liked EH a lot. Based on personality I thought they would be a good fit for me. Hey pal ❤️ With absolutely no bias what-so-ever, DF of course ?. You could argue DI or RSD though. I value longevity and the ability to be competitive through multiple periods, and all three of those clans have/had it.
  12. Damn nice memory dude lol. Still bad with women and will be until the day I die most likely. Miss you too man, we had some good times back in the day. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think Tempest lives in a bubble that deems them irrelevant. Yes they aren't active in F2P, but I see them fighting Revenant, Ancient Fury, Violent Resolution, Vitality, Sovereign, Playdead, and others and pulling decent numbers. I even saw them take a chance on F2P and fight you guys. They also deal with RoT and their minions like you guys do. They may be irrelevant in F2P, which is what you guys primarily do, but they aren't as a whole. I just want them to do what they want to do, and for now that is P2P. If they eventually want to move to F2P then good for them, but it's not my place to judge them or expect anything of them. This is a tough one. I always like Eternal Honour, and at least during my time we had a decent relationship with The Titans. 1. Sorry I never met Austin P, not sure who that is. 2. I would go back to DF. They are basically fully GMT now, but I would have to find a way to work. That's my clan, always has been and always will be. 3. No, primarily because I just can't stay focused on the game enough to make my account even good enough. I get too bored quickly. Also I just am not sure the current state of the clan world really interest me. 4. I play rs for like two weeks then stop playing for four months, and it basically repeats. I play it when I get really bored. I don't play any online games, but I do like single player RPG's. Unfortunately there aren't enough good ones nowadays. 5. We just had to remove people for doing sketchy shit. Scamming, hacking, working with nh clans, etc. Nothing super interesting, but they always came with drama. 6. I don't know if I miss out on much honestly. They game and the clan world changed so much, but maybe at least experiencing some of that would have been interesting. Trying to survive through a 24 hour fight sure would have been a challenge. 7. The most overrated clan.... tough one. I led DF during its peak point, so while different clans added a challenge we were really tough to beat. As much as I respected EH I don't think we ever had super difficult fights from them until well after my time. 8. Eternal Honour, I just liked their vibe as they were a really respectable group of people. I also like The Titans back in the day, for similar reasons. 9. Back then it was Cor. I understood their reasons for the rivalry, but I thought their response was way over the top. It ended up just being a fun challenge and I ended up gaining respect for them, but for awhile we hated each other. 10. I can't remember any specific member. Since we are talking any rank team I disliked General Shop in Awaken, which is one reason I left. There was just an ego with him, and when DF became #1 he messaged me in a stand-offish way kind of trying to take some credit for it lol. Was odd.
  13. I think Chris Petersen. They guy's whole point is to help others grow and excel, and that's what I love about leadership. I want to help people thrive. LOL sounds about right. The guy just did everything right as a warlord, but outside of that he was a genuinely nice guy who gained the respect of everyone. He just gave off serious leader vibes to me, and always had great input to give. It's been so long so I can't remember specific scenarios, but he is one of the few people I can think of who had instantly impressed me.
  14. 1. As council I was a bit of an ass as DF members were like wild mustangs, and I wish I would have spent more time actually trying to befriend people. As leader I wish I would have spent more time on rankings and member input options, as I think there was a lot of untapped potential that we didn't take advantage of. 2. Blue Wall, hands down. He and I think a lot alike. 3. Nope, DF is and always be my clan. 4. This is tough, there are so many people I'd like to talk to again. Since Seek came back around I guess I'll say Beevis, those two were hilarious. 5. I hated crash wars, I thought it was a waste of time to think clans could really spend time killing another clan due to disagreements. Hurt every clan long term in my opinion. 6. I was never salty about it and understood it. I just like to tease True for it. 7. Death pushed us so hard to never give up on our fights with Cor, and when we started beating them it felt really damn good. It was like a weird mixture of being exhausted over it but being too stubborn to lie down. I think that was a huge turning point for what DF would end up being over a 15 year period, as its mentality of constantly fighting and adapting was engraved in it. 8. Honestly I am very impressed by 2010 - current day DF. I don't think anyone like us on the outside really, truly understands how difficult it would have been to adapt and have success through crash wars/ddosing/rs doing multiple terrible updates/a RoT embargo and to come out of it just fine. We did some cool stuff back in our day in the prime of the clan world, sure, but we also didn't really have to worry about all of that stuff happening. It's impressive and I have huge amounts of respect for it. Flin and Homedawg. Lots of callers had their great points, but props to those two in particular. Not really, no. Once I retired for the last time I kind of knew that would be it, I just always liked to linger around DF and check in on them.
  15. Corr was hands down our biggest rival. DI for a brief period when we were fighting for the #1 rank. After my time I think ex-DF members would tell you TT and MAYBE VR for a bit, but can't say for sure. I liked fighting the big boys, DI and DS. We didn't do it often but I enjoyed the challenge every time we did. I also enjoyed fighting EH as I respected that clan a lot. Cor was fun but when you fight a clan so much you eventually get kind of bored of it. I'm never surprised by them. I don't really consider them a legitimate clan if I'm being honest, tactics went way too far and from what I hear still do. I just listed this above, DS/DI/EH. I think being too much of a hardass as council. I think that turned a lot of people off. Other than that my leadership stint just being so short. I wish I could have lingered longer and helped DF establish a more dominant role. The strength was so new by the time I stepped down. They're awesome, I love that group and respect them a lot. They are the epitome of what I want DF members to be, and have done a lot to still be a threat. Ultimately I just want them to make DF what they want it to be so it can be their clan in a similar way to how it has always been mine. I'm proud of the community we created in the past and I hope they are proud of what they have done. Honestly I'm too old the grey hairs have taken over my brain. Can't remember anything funny specifically.
  16. Today's clan world is not my cup of tea. I respect DF for keeping it going and doing their thing, and am happy they are enjoying it, but for me personally I don't think I could be active in it. I started to notice changes with crashing/ddosing/extending fights way too long which helped kill the flame for me. It felt like everyone refused to take a loss which degraded the clan world, and on top of that Jagex was making changes that didn't exactly help. I think the current clan world is the aftermath of that, but clearly it hasn't ended it as clans are still doing their thing, so maybe it isn't quite what I think it is. No pressure was really put on me, but I certainly put pressure on myself. I just wanted to be myself and help in whatever way I thought I could to make the clan better. Unfortunately that meant I ended up being a bit of a hardass as council. Death eventually told me he hated what I turned the clan into, so I guess there were expectations that I didn't know about. I listed this in my first response. Sorry, good question though. I'll let Homedawg respond to this one lol. Homedawg and Ves, duh. ? I never really came back to the new era, but observing from the outside I was impressed that DF managed to keep competing at a high level considering the state of the clan world. They were obviously holding their own in challenging times. As for the clan world itself, it kind of ended up being what I thought it would end up being based on patterns I saw back in the day. It was no big deal, I told True back then and IMK just a few days ago that I think it was past due and understood why they did it. I just like taking fun little jabs at True. I'm a pretty confident guy so I took it head on, knowing I had to earn DF's trust. My legacy isn't important, I just wanted DF members to know that they were responsible for all of the success that they had and only they could get in the way of it falling apart. Ultimately I think it worked out pretty well, and I hope in doing so I played some sort of role in establishing DF's ability to adapt to challenges over the years.
  17. So many. Death, Lilhunterkid, Scotticon, Runites, Dark Knighty, Seek Destro0, Beevis, Pickleman, Flinestoneman, Homedawg, Veseble, Lego, Lil2, the list just goes on and on that I can't possibly list them all out. I think he had a presence that was more than a Warlord. He was a great Warlord, but I think he could have led the clan at some point. Not something I ever concerned myself with, and I don't recall it ever causing drama. I listed a bunch earlier in this post. 07/08 Saxo, Dalejamesw, Shinobi, etc. Hard to say since I've never been led by Ross or True, but I'll take my old school bias and go Homedawg & Lil2. Whichever way I answer this question I'm going to get flamed out by someone, so I'll list 3 and let you determine from there: Death240, True 2k8 and Legolas86880. Good question, DF was the most unique clan I had ever been in. I guess Cor since I got to know them on a personal level as a deep-seeded rival. It feels like that rivalry started based on a common trait both clans had.
  18. Initially I thought it added a good spark to the clan. True has some great traits, but towards the end I think he could have done better to not cause so much chaos. My rank on these forums is a great example of that. To be clear - I was not active in DF for most of these so my responses are just outside observations. Death - his ability to push DF to be its best and challenge anyone was his best trait. Worst was he went too easy on members who broke rules. Lego - I think just his overall presence in the clan, nothing specific. He argued a little bit too much with people on RSC. Bunty - Probably should ask other people. I could be too harsh on people, but I also know how to motivate people (if you're willing to read my posts that end up being novels). Shinobi - He was a hard worker who cared. I think he was a little afraid to lay down the hammer or make a tough decision when he needed to, from what I could tell. Ves - Ves had the respect of pretty much everyone in the clan; everyone liked him. I don't know if he had the mind for long term strategy. Kim - Like Ves, everyone liked her. I can't say what her worst trait was, I was starting to kind of fade out at this point and not paying attention as much. Omni - Omni is extremely loyal to DF and always tried his best. I don't know if he really had the leadership trait, but to be honest with you I never personally spent much time talking or working with Omni so whatever I say probably doesn't do him justice. Whazaa - Another one who I think a lot of people liked and worked hard as an official, which earned him the leadership rank. I think there was a lot of internal battling amongst officials during this time, from what I have heard, but I can't confirm that as it is just rumors. True - I think True and his leadership team had a great willingness to adapt to the changes that the clan world and rs threw at them. He's burned a lot of bridges with DF and the DF members of my time, leaving a lot of bitterness, which he should have worked to mend. Instead I see the opposite. Murray - He is extremely loyal to the clan and have pushed them constantly to be better, you can't really question how much he cares about DF as I talk with him about it all the time. I know he'd admit this himself, but I think recruitment will be a struggle with him as he doesn't really reach out to try and befriend people outside of the clan too much. He has a solid group of officials and members to help fill that void though, which is what is needed as all leaders have their flaws. 1. I love that clan. They have solid officials, a leader who really gives a damn and has done a lot to keep it chugging along, and a motivated memberbase who tries their best to excel at whatever challenges them. They have only been good to me, and I want them to become the ultimate version of themselves. I trust them wholly. 2. I think Homedawg, he earned a lot of respect in a short amount of time to get the Head Warlord rank, but I wasn't really active in 08 either. 3. I think DI vs. DS holds that title, but I would definitely put DF vs. Cor second. The top dogs taking swings at each other is always entertaining, but there is no doubting the energy put into the DF vs. Cor rivalry. It was harsh and bitter, but also fun. 4. I wish I could have led for longer. My life changed a lot back then which led me to retire quickly. I wanted to help DF not only become the #1 clan but the best clan that has ever existed. I think he was for awhile and does have that mindset, however I also have concerns of him leaving people bitter towards him. He has his strengths, but isn't without his flaws. My most proud moment was leading DF out of its slump initially. I wanted DF to know that while Death played a huge role in DF's success that ultimately they were the determining factor, so when we got out of that slump I think we all felt pretty good about it. Honestly I really had a solid crew of officials when I took over DF. Lego, Homedawg, Ves, Scotticon, Flin, Dark Knighty, etc. are some names I would choose. Some new faces/people who were just past my time that I would love having on my team was Murray, IMK, Rene, True, Shinobi, Peterh, Dalejamesw. Idk there are so many. Back then it would have been Blue Wall, although Valor already closed and he just wasn't active. He eventually joined the leadership team it was just after I retired.
  19. ~Divine Forces~ Bountyhuntur @Bunty Hey Everyone - I'm Bountyhuntur, but most people know me as Bunty. I started playing on RS classic and joined my first clan in late 2003 or early 2004 on RS2. After having joined and left multiple clans (The Blue Dragons, Four Horsemen, Nemesis, Awaken, etc.) I wanted a break from ranked clans and joined a friend's small pking clan called The Midnight Warriors. Here I met Death240, and is ultimately what led me to Divine Forces. Death and Lilhunterkid recruited me to DF in 2005, but I left about a week later because I didn't feel like it was quite my fit. I then started a clan called The Legion with my buddy Avster, who ended up quitting on it fairly quickly so I shut it down. After that failed I rejoined DF following a conversation with Death, and that's where I stayed for the rest of my clanning career. I rose the ranks pretty quickly, starting with Council then eventually becoming High Council. After I joined the second time it became pretty obvious that I had made a huge mistake leaving in the first place, because this group was special and led by a guy who was hands down the best leader I've ever had. We won a lot, constantly challenging clans that people thought we couldn't beat and rose the ranks into the top 5 in a little over a year. Then at the end of 2006 Death retired and left the leadership rank open to one of two people, me or Veseble. After a couple of days of thinking about it, I spoke to Veseble and we agreed that I should take the Leader role. A lot of people, internally and externally, thought Death retiring was the end of DF. I wanted to prove them wrong and continue our push for that #1 spot. We hit a slump immediately, but were able to recover a couple of months. Then May came around and DS closed, which gave us a large influx of members and gave us that big push we needed to become the #1 clan. I was lucky to be given the opportunity to guide DF through its first leadership change, out of its largest slump by that point in time, and lead the clan at its peak point throughout its 15 year history. In August of 2007 I stepped down to retire as my life was changing drastically. I came back to lead for a short time not too long after that, but then retired again fairly quickly. Then I got kicked by @true for being retired and the rest is history. ******** Homedawg90 @Homedawg Hi everyone, my name is Alex. My best tenure was during my time in Divine Forces, where my first interaction was getting owned in the wild by them. Sometime in 2005 when clans used to be in edge post fights, I got recruited by Divine Forces and that's how the party started. I became warlord in 2007 then got head warlord shortly after before finally retiring at the end of 2008. I did come back sporadically between then and 2016 before coming back to runescape for approximately a year and I thought the gameplay was not good. Like others, I consider 06-09 to be that golden age, perfect storm, era in rs clanning because there were such a large amount of clans including big ones like DF that had 125+ member lists and then intros and Future applications to draw numbers from. Overall it was a great time with great experiences.
  20. Wouldn't shock me in the slightest haha, I thought the same thing often. Good guy though.
