  1. was nice talking with you the other day as well!
  2. welcome to the club. good to see you're still around! TRWF ama next? xD
  3. Hi guys, thanks for doing a TR AMA. Here are a few links that might help with your ama: 2007 Memberlist: https://www.runescapehall.net/the-rising-clan 2008 Memberlist: https://web.archive.org/web/20080606223321/http://www.runehead.com/clans/ml.php?clan=cluggins 2009 Memberlist: https://web.archive.org/web/20090601205620/http://www.runehead.com/clans/ml.php?clan=therising Questions: (All) @Des Troyer @Clugred @HsCrusader07 @Monkey Who are the best mages in TR history? Who are the best tanks in TR history? (For Hscrusader) @HsCrusader07 Why did you never train your prayer? Did you have any desire to lead in the top 5? Why / Why not? -> In my opinion if you were in a top 5 clan you easily could have become the #1 fall in leader
  4. @Tukuruk91 @Zero_Fear1 @Mitch @Rare Doing everyone justice and stamping this shut with the official closure 12 years later lmao. here is some nostalgia for everyone ---- Syndicate was a clan that was created in 2009. The idea to create the clan started when interclan drama broke out in the #2 F2p clan at the time, Corruption between Corruption leader Demonchild27 and Corruption Warlord Lukas1400. Corruption's arch rival Divine Forces were clearly #1 and there were disagreements within the leadership team in Corruption on what to do with the clan's future. In the midst of several consecutive 15+ hour losses to DF, tensions were high and a breaking point erupted within CoR. Lukas's proposal on what to do next was to mass recruit and bring in a lot more members into Corruption to compete with Divine Forces who outnumbered and therefore were outperforming CoR. Demonchild disagreed and was content with accepting defeat and maintaining the #2 rank while trying to get fights with the other top clans such as RSD, TT, EH, DI, VR, and EOS who were quickly closing the power gap to the #2 rank. During the leadership meeting, Corruption high council D2master12 asked Lukas to specifically name who he had ready to join CoR in order to realize the credibility of Lukas's argument. Lukas mentioned ex-VR Warlord Kronca and pest sniper 45chris2, among many other known clanners whom he did want to disclose. However, not only did Demochild reject the idea, he said that those people would never be accepted into CoR because of their questionable pasts such as Kronca's glitching in duel arena and 45chris2's record of crashing planned fights. Fed up with Demonchild who had a bad history of breaking up the core leadership team in Corruption multiple times, Lukas approached D2master12 and asked him if he would be interested in creating their own clan to compete with the other top clans in the game. Lukas had also been talking with VR founder Stephen22288, Collision Leader Hios, and mass recruiting specialist Tukuruk91 about opening up a new clan. D2master, who was close to retiring, agreed to help and Syndicate was born. Other starting ranked officials included The Stricken Cards Founder Zero Fear1, VR Founder General Shop, Rune Raiders Warlords Dennisnator0 (Dennisbruv) & J40k, Corruption official Mithwiz, Reign of Terror Council Ice Tonkice, and Blacknights Warlord Paul18243. Other non-ranked members included Reign of Terror Leader And1bball22, Aggression Leader Odin666, and Corruption Warlord Gwarzo. Syndicate Starting Officials With such an impressive gathering of officials and members, the Runescape community was already ranking Syndicate as high as the #6 clan in the game during a very competitive top 10 era before the clan had even opened. When the announcement became public and the Syndicate officials left their respective clans, the entire clan world was shocked and also with the news that Syndicate declared their first official fight would be against the former top 3 clan, Eternal Honour. Eternal Honour was a stable top 5 clan but were in a bit of a slump in their terms, but nonetheless a formidable opponent for any of the top clans in the game. Syndicate's aim was to send a message to the clan world that they weren't afraid to fight the best established clans and that they were trying to break into the top 5 rankings right out of the gates. With a memberlist surpassing 110 in less than a week, the clan world was suspensefully waiting to see what Syndicate was capable of. A day prior to the Eternal Honour fight, Syndicate had a no preparation PK trip where they fought the respected Australian clan, Chivalry Legions and pulled 60 people to their first event. Syndicate delivered a one sided beatdown and further gained the clan world's attention by earning their first victory. The win made the clan world only more anxious to see how they would perform against the daunting task in front of them which was EH. Syndicate vs Chivalry Legions Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgb-BipJdtE Highly motivated and insulted by Syndicate's first fight choice, EH pulled a whopping 90 people starting vs Syndicate's 75 people starting. EH performed like the top clan that they were and overwhelmed Syndicate with their talented numbers, loyal binders, and experienced sniper unit who overmatched the majority of Syndicate's members who had never even been in a top 6 clan before. EH ended Syndicate in 45 minutes and in the months to follow retook the #1 rank in the game with victories over RSD, CoR, VR, and DF. Syndicate vs Eternal Honour Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdKlyZdqMqc @3lite @Vanuckle In the aftermath of such a bad defeat, some of the starting officials and members who had wanted to break into the top 5 immediately quit and the clan experienced it's first mass leaving. Dennisbruv, J40k, Lewisward14, and the ex Rune Raiders members that they brought all mass quit and joined DF. However, at the same time, Syndicate also experienced another mass joining boost from new players who wanted to be a part of the new clan hype despite the loss from EH. Notable members who joined at this time were former 'THE' / The Rising Warlord Hscrusader07 and Fatal Premonition leader Da Bum69 who brought nearly all of FP with him. Rejuvenated and determined to continue their path to break into the top 5, Syndicate further declared a non returning full out war against the #7 ranked clan, Violent Resolution. Although VR won, Syndicate put up a respectable fight and there was still a lot of promise in the clan. Syndicate vs Violent Resolution Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ-CJCFO3EU After a few weeks of several moral boosting wins, Syndicate declared 1 hour prep uncapped PKRI against Runescape Dinasty, the #5 clan. RSD pulled 60 people and Syndicate pulled 50. Although the start of the fight was close, RSD started gaining numbers and took the upper hand within about 30 minutes of fighting and eventually ended Syndicate in 1 hour 30 minutes and ended with 80 people. @Icedrop Syndicate vs Runescape Dinasty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ08vov0gYs In the midst of tough hard fought battles, key officials and members began to stand out as big contributors to the clan. Da Bum69 was promoted to Co-Leader, Mithwiz and Allen1503 were promoted to High Council, Hscrusader07 was promoted to Warlord, and Daniel40 and Ironman2008 were promoted to head of application managers. Despite the loyal member base and core leadership team that had been established, it was clear to everyone that Syndicate was not going to be able to break into the top 8 anytime soon. At the same time of being pushed down to the #9 ranking, another newer clan, Exodus was emerging out of the pack of the #10 ranking as a new contender. Exodus was offended that Syndicate had just opened and instantly leapfrogged all the other clans that had been working hard to compete for the #10 rank. Debate broke out on Runescape Community of which clan was better; Syndicate or Exodus, and a heated rivalry ensued from the passionate clan members from both sides who flamed and argued over which clan was better. As things were often settled, Syndicate declared a 1 week uncapped PKRI against Exodus to determine who was the better clan. The epic battle lasted 9 hours of intensity which traditionally did not occur for clans fighting in the #10 and below ranking which is why it has been recalled for many of those players participating in the fight as one of the most memorable fights of their careers. The fight was back and forth for the first few hours of the fight with Syndicate gaining an upperhand around the 3 hour mark which lasted for a few hours until the 5 hour mark, then the power control went back and forth through the 7 hour mark, until finally Exodus came out victorious after 9 hours of fighting. Original RSC Post: https://web.archive.org/web/20100203165258/http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1213547-exodus-v-syndicate/ Syndicate vs Exodus Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLamYEHBBpA @Dark Invoker @Josh 221 Shortly after the Exodus fight, Lukas1400, D2master12, and Mithwiz were satisfied with the creation experience and abruptly closed the clan despite controversy within the leadership team about whether or not to close. Just as fast as Syndicate started was as fast as it came to an end. Stunned by the decision to close, the clan world was in awe as, once again, everyone was blindsided with the announcement of the clan closure. Although the clan was short lived, the fun memories still remain with those who partook on both sides of the battles and it has been often referenced that Syndicate/Exodus were a stepping stone for a lot of players who were previously in the #10 and below clans to step into, and in a lot of cases take over leading the top clans in the game. Other notable members not already mentioned included: Evilpker 01, Reg 104, Devin000111, Phoenyx, Lethaldude56, Jony290, Jim 4 Eva, Dragonsaber, Pistoldragon, Chaingang815, Luigi105, Hitman1 Cs, Leblur, Michael6810, Ranger Trix. 6. impressive turnout and glad to see the clans collaborating together to kill rot/sv. keep that up. side note: there are too many pictures posted on the topic to read the entire topic lol:(
  7. looks like another pathetic attempt by rot to do something
  8. ask me this question in 2010 and I would have said HELL NO. but ask me in 2021, you get a different answer.
  9. I think the reality is that clans cannot uphold the same standards that they did back in 07-10 etc. If there could be clan member sharing I could see it as a way to expand the lifetime of clanning. Of course I think it is more honorable not to, but I just feel like the activity / amount of people just arent there anymore and will likely continue to decrease. if covid ends and people start to disappear again I think double clanning or whatever you want to call it should be considered even by tempest. trust me, youll be able to evolve from whatever happens from that.
  10. from my ama: #1 2009 VR vs Everyone Team VR (VR+DK) vs Everyone (DF, CoR, EOS, ROT, TT and others) - 100 people vs 300 people+ starting Winner: Team VR This was the most fun, satisfying, rewarding fight that I ever had and trust me I was in a lottt of them. What led up to this fight is that VR had become so massive and so dominate (unbiased opinion - I think the highest peak any clan ever achieved in terms of pure power) that no one would fight them. VR had what I consider to be the best fall in line up in the history of RS with Cera S6, Lukas, Radicalsurfu, Arma150, Empire Mind, Kaochin and myself among many others great callers and were completely dominating every other clan to the point of no clans wanting to fight us. VR started doing what no other F2P top clan had done which was intentionally crash top clans fights with the intention of fighting 2v1. Clans fought back at first, but VR was too massive and relentless to compete with and the clan world became inactive for several weeks while no one dared to go into the wild. On this day, VR had gone flightless for several weeks and sporadically decided to check the wilderness on a Saturday with about 100 people to surprisingly get blind side rushed by every other top clan for a massive cluster fight which VR ended up winning. We had gotten used to everyone being afraid to fight us and we had ended 2 clans vs VR with relative ease prior to this, but I remember my initial reaction was, "oh shit, what do we do? can we really take on 4-5 of the next best clans at the same time?" I don't know how no one in VR saw it coming, but when we got rushed, everyone in VR was surprised and for a few seconds TS was like..."oh fuck." Then someone started calling piles and in the private leadership chat Evizu said to fight them and we announced on teamspeak that we were going to take on DF, CoR, EOS, ROT, TT with the intention of winning. Everyone's reaction was, "FUCK YEAH!" I remember making a short speech on our teamspeak that everyone needs to understand that we were going to be heavily out numbered for a big portion of the fight but if everyone kept returning and didnt get offline that we would beat all of the other top clans. Not only did it seem like impossible odds, but the #1 clan beating the #2+#3+#4, etc had never happened before in the clan world. But to me, and I think everyone in VR, knowing this is what what fueled us to win. We knew it was going to be hard, but we also knew that we had everything we needed to do it. Everyone buckled down and we fought hard and ended up winning this fight. I can't remember how long the fight lasted, but I'm pretty sure it was one of those 15+ hour fights. I know it's just a game but winning this fight was such a great feeling of accomplishment and feeling of comradery that everyone in VR shared that day. Honestly, I think moments like those are what made clan communities so close and what holds the relationships that were made 15+ years ago together to this day. #2 2007 Classic CoR Vs DF Rivalry fights Winner: Both For anyone who doesn't know the biggest rivalry in the history of the game, CoR and DF, actually started because of a failed alliance between CoR leader Robtokill and DF leader Death240. Death240 did an alliance with CoR without talking to the members about it, the DF members didn’t like it, and then Death backed out immediately and Rob freaked out and forever venged to destroy DF (special thanks to 1 of DF's first leaders Bunty for clarifying). Also for the record - I am giving more background than a lot of you may think is necessary because I don't know how much longer any of us will remember this stuff ?. Anyway, since that day there has always been a lot of hatred between the clans and literally a, "destroy and kill" attitude between the clans which still hasn't gone away for a lot of you to this day xD. What made the rivalry great is that both clans were always fighting in the top 3 and now jumping forward to 2007, often the power swings would go back and forth with who was the #1 clan for the weekend. The debate over who was better I will leave up to you. In 2007, fights between DF and CoR happened frequently and sometimes twice a week every weekend all lasting in the 9+ hour range. Sad that I have to mention this in today's era, but these fights were also clean 1v1 fights with no outside interference. There was minimal crashing, no ddosing, no meddling with the other clans in anyway (besides A LOT of shit talking and flaming xD). These fights were great and everyone who experienced them knows how intense they were. Some big name mentions from DF's side were Legolas, Veseble, Flinstoneman, and Lil2. Some big name mentions for CoR were Andy4309, Chopa234, Robtokill, and Ngaged. #3 2007 First Cluster Alliance fights - Largest fight in RS history? Team CoR (CoR, DI ,Titans, and Collision) vs Team DF (DF, VR, EH, CL, and SE) ft. NH clans like Rot, NI who sided with CoR Winner: Team DF Corruption, Titans and Collision Starting picture (240 people) During this time, we were right in the middle of the heated rivalry fights between CoR and DF during a time when CoR had the slight edge and was #1 with DF being a close #2. But from my memory, there was a lot of controversy over who the real winners of fights were because the crashing done by NI+Rot had big impacts in the fights for all of the top clans of this era. Basically from I remember what started these cluster fights is that for example; CoR would fight DF, NI+Rot would crash DF, VR would ac for DF and kill NI+Rot then DI would go out to hit VR, then EH would come out to AC the original NI+RoT crashing CoR vs DF, then TT would go out to hit EH and so on. Each clan fought as an individual unit so you had 10+ clans all logged into the same world all having their individual battles. I remember actually some people choosing to return in f2p because the battle world had the maximum amount of players logged in and often if you chose to return in p2p by a gdz teleport and then log into f2p you had to wait a while to log back into f2p until someone else had logged out. Once things got going, it was basically a free for all where you attacked anyone from the opposing side. It was pretty cool because at random times in the fight different clans would struggle. For example, maybe DI would struggle and need to regroup for an hour while CoR+TT+COL went on the offensive and so on. And then TT+COL would need to regroup and DI had to come be back on the offensive. This fight was called, "the largest fight in runescape history" and I'm not sure it was ever overtaken. Although the side I was on lost this fight, a big cluster fight like this had never happened before and it was really exciting to be apart of.
  11. haha that's pretty cool. Corruption has a rich history
