Bobby 93
I think this is a sore topic in OSRS, but I'm curious what people's thoughts on it are. I've never played a game before where purchasing services is so frowned upon by a player base. I saw a Behemoth video this morning that made me wonder why people hate it so much. I've hopped across most major mmos in the past 10 years (WoW, FFXIV, ESO, New World, etc) and every single one of them has top players that sell completes, gear farms, xp grinding, etc. In most of them it's even legal to do so. Some people cry about it, but a good portion simply don't care. In ESO, we would sell no death, hard mode, speed run trial titles to fund our own score pushing. We even carried one of the developers for a title on their account at one point. I never really understood the argument against doing it because it's simply just either items that are necessary for your account or cosmetics. Nothing that affected the play of other players. Like some people wanted them and just simply didn't enjoy the content, couldn't beat the content for whatever reason, or just were impatient and didn't want to learn it. Whatever the reason, that's how they chose to play the game and it didn't affect me. I would even argue that completes/titles in other games affect your ability to get into a raid team significantly more than most servicing does in OSRS. Obviously anything that affects the economy is completely different, but things like inferno, torso, fire cape, quiver (debatable since you actually get drops along the way), even quests/diaries/cas just simply don't affect other players. Why do people in this game care so much? My thoughts on it are just if someone has fun doing an activity then great, if not then who cares. Let people play how they want. I get that it's against TOS in OSRS, but there's a lot of things against TOS that people think shouldn't be or just do any way. I should add here that obviously paying rl money for it is definitely different than using in game currency. I've never played a game where any rl money transaction was permitted. But plenty allow in game currency to be used to purchase services.
Adam_ 1,122
If it's being carried some place that's one thing but if you're gonna have people log on your account to do shit for you why bother playing lol, especially on like Ironman and shit which is where a lot of it is on osrs

Again, it still doesn't affect other players, if someone wants a title or something but can't/doesn't want to get it themselves then it doesn't really affect the rest of the game for them. There's plenty of content I've come across where I hated doing it and if I had to do it again I would certainly consider paying someone so that I can just play the content I want to. Just because someone doesn't like one tiny aspect of a game then they just shouldn't play it at all? If someone doesn't like BA, they should just not play OSRS? The game is so much more than just BA, lol.

NarNumbers 232
Just to clarify you mean paying in game OSRS gp for a service? Like infernal or quiver or a friend to train ur account/do quests?

Also a poor example because you can literally pay to afk and get carried there. The mentality of paying someone else to play a video game for you on your account is dumb lol
Kody 71
RS players have strangely overinflated egos and senses of pride attached to their account and hours spent on the game, more so than on most other games. Everything is about game "integrity" and all that reddit tier slop - play games how you want to play them, at whatever cost, imo. Isndar 281
I am never going to go against people buying Carry service like stupid and silly Combat achievements tasks what I am against is that people paying solo content by making others logging in into their accounts and doing it for them instead of doing themselves like Fire cape, Infernal Cape, Dizana's Quiver other solo only content that merit and reward those who do it themselves. there is nothing wrong being max cape with fire cape, or ava's assembler without transmog masori or dizana's quiver... but its 2024, not everyone have the time to do all of these and learn all of these contents and most people is working and have extra cash laying around and of course, some of them think they have these extra cash for their leisure and im sure they feel its justified for their Pay2Win since they have less game time vs others tl;dr - Just Make OSRS Blood money same like Platinum Token (1K gp : 1 coin) and let players buy Untradables shamelessly with Blood Money Gold Sink on an Untradable surely benefit a lot towards the RS economy in general. Majority of players dont really care if an Infernal Cape or Dizana's quiver or whatever transmog like blood torva is achieved by anyone so just allow people pay with GP instead for the untradables...or maybe need include bonds so Jagex also gets commissions... Yeah this is kind of what I'm gathering. Enjoyable is subjective. i have no negative thoughts on things like paying a friend to do quests for you, train your account or to do difficult content such as Infernal cape, quiver, Grand-master combat achievements etc. My thought process is that many people don't have time, patience or skill to invest countless hours into getting those rewards and just want to enjoy there time on the game. My only thing I find odd is when people not owning up they bought a service. Like people do it all the time, it's no big deal.
