  1. Yep I was there.

DF won maybe the first 6 hours of the fight but I dont think it was ever anywhere close to enough to say TT should have ended.  After that point we never regained control.  Maybe got it back to a stalemate here and there, but TT for sure controlled it from there on overall.  I remember our GMTers waking up to our IRC bot still spamming people to get into our pk channel and them thinking that someone had forgotten to turn it off.  The frustrating part for me was that at the 24 hour mark we were struggling to maintain any kind of presence in game, and then as soon as we said to hop for ending all the sudden we had 80 in game for the ending picture.  Everyone sure likes to act like they were there once you say its over.

Ye, after they closed and went to DF was when DF became pretty relevant going from the top 15ish to top 1-2 clans (at the time).

While DS closing is what led to DF competing for and eventually taking the top spot, they were already a top 5 clan when DS closed.  DI and Corr were closer competition to DS at the time, but DF was far from being just a "top 15ish" clan.

I don't think VR got the credit we deserved due to the fact we started the crash war which I understand because of the lack of fights given to us, everyone used to say it was because we'd cheat/get crashed by another clan/etc. We really weren't given the chance to prove our strength in a 1v1 like you said, and wish a clan would give us the chance. The only clan that would give us a fight for the main part of this was RSD and this was after the first crash war. I think if we were ever put in a prepped cap fight we could of really shown our dominance, but this was the era of uncapped fights and whoever outlasted the other clan was usually the "victor to RSC community rules". If I could of changed one thing it would of been VR not going around crashing everyone as a bully mentality due to nobody wanting to fight us. If we could of got time caps we could of shown our dominance but also feel this would of just not gave us fights and a crash war would of started regardless due to the hunger for a fight. The crash war was always a morale booster showing/proving we could go up against multiple clans at once.

The crash wars from a DF perspective hurt us a lot in terms of quality officials and in particular our callers retiring early on in the first one and generally not wanting to deal with it.  We had some ups and downs during it, but for the most part they did highlight a great core of members that we had in place that were never going to let DF completely fade away from competing at the top during that time period.  But we lost some of the best callers in DF history who all retired or faded activity wise right around the same time, and the crash war without a doubt was a large reason for them stepping away.

VR on the other hand like you said definitely thrived on the challenge.  You guys were always going to be more suited for it.  Really, momentum really didnt start to even out until ROT was finally brought into the mix and you guys were up against a clan that also thrived in that atmosphere.

Like I said, VR in late 2009/early 2010 was the toughest challenge I ever went up against in my time with DF.  I just wanted to give credit where it was due, because like I said, I don't think enough people either realized it, or just wont admit to how good y'all were at that time.

  4. Man, I wasn't around the game anymore for any of your post VR time, but it feels so weird seeing that you were in DF even for just a short amount of time.

I had one thought and kind of question I wanted to share/pose to you.

During the first large crash war where VR gained a lot of strength, especially after DI closing.  I felt that internally VR were much better suited to handle that kind of mentality than any of the other clans that took part.  The one downside I saw in it for VR though was that because of the crash war, every fight that VR engaged in just turned into a large cluster of all clans involved.  I think because of this people don't truly realize how strong VR truly were at that time.  You guys were honestly untouchable in a 1vs1, but you never really got to prove it because 1vs1's weren't a thing at that point.  VR for that stretch could send 50-60 snipers on a clan and still have a 80 man main pile at times.  In my time in DF, it was really the only time that I felt like we couldn't hang with a clan on a given day, but we got to hide behind the crash war as a way to deny VR that clear cut title.

So my question really is, do you think that VR in that span of dominance truly got the credit they deserved from an external standpoint?  I know y'all likely weren't bothered by who thought what at the time but it feels like people don't look back at the dominant clans and give VR the credit they deserved for their late 2009/early 2010 form you guys were in.

Since this is an AMA, I have to put my two cents in; Did you think you'd ever seen everyone again, 11 years later, thriving in our discord? I have to admit myself, Scotticon, Saxo, and Dale did a hell of a job bringing the band back together. These may be friendships that will last a lifetime.

  6. Very good read.  Our times in the DF/Corr rivalry never really overlapped.  Maybe a few months in 2006, and then you were in VR when I came back to RS later in 2009.  I do remember fighting against you in the crash war, but I never really bothered associating with anyone outside of DF and pretty much just focused on what was going on within the clan even when I got ranked later on, I just focused on our own members and let our warlords and other officials deal with the relationships with other clans/people.

Wish I could have fought against you more during your Cor era.  I really wish I had stuck around RS for longer then to experience all that went on during that era of DF in general.

  7. I remember their path to taking on DI.  All the build up for months as people started to get more and more invested.  They warred against some of the Alliance clans and everyone was just waiting for the big one and then it finally happened.  I remember the world being pop capped from all the people wanting to watch.  Then the constant refreshing on RSC waiting for the result to get posted.  Was wild how big of a moment that was in the clan world.

I really tried to answer everyone on forums, IRC & Teamspeak whenever I could... I find that crazy I didn't answer you! I should have done more I guess! All good.?

I think Shinobi was a ref on every FA for like a 1+ year period.  Even the spies ?

I feel the exact same way. The beef was stupid. I kept track of you, Valor and then Df right? I always wanted to smooth shit over, we used to be good, but I think we both know how I used to be lmao. I think the beef was over Fultimekila, which is another stupid drama in of itself. It’s sort of cool how it all transitioned though, we went exact opposite directions in terms of clanning. I went with Sa into Vr and you went Valor into Df. Exact opposites , I always found it cool to see you still around and doing your thing and I respected that, maybe even a bit jealous if I’m to be honest.

It’s great seeing you bro though, who knew after 10+ years me and you would be having a civil conversation. ?

haha yeah always always kept track of you too.  I always like to see what old NoD had gotten up to and loved to see members making places for themselves in the bigger clans over time.  And yeah I think the beef was over Fulti starting up a new clan at the same time that other leader of NoD (Nairod?) was remaking NoD.  And it caused a big rift between the two followings and I understand why people were mad at fulti for just basically turning his back on NoD like that.  That new clan went on to create Valor and so thats why you had that stigma towards us.

Definitely glad to finally sit down and talk haha.

Lol, I still remember Nod and all the fallout from that drama. Good to see you, it was me, not you.

NoD, man those were good times.  Good to see you around as well man.  You know I remember seeing your name in like VR I think or something years later and I took a step back and was like "wait why did we have beef again?".  Always wished we could have ironed things out at the time, but after a few years there was never any hard feelings any way.  Always had some respect for you and for sticking to your guns.

  11. I always like the ZF line of clans.  I randomly met Denker in game and became friends with him and he was always a super chill and nice dude.  I think he was council or something in ZF.  I wanted to train up and join ZF, but never got high enough before they closed and then eventually found my own niche in the top 20ish clan range of that time.

  12. @Bunty what were your thoughts on DS and what was DF's approach during your time as leader/high council on how to go about handling them in terms of giving them fights vs trying to focus on other clans and avoid them?  If they had stayed open and kept going do you think DF would have been the best clan to challenge for their spot first, or would another clan like Corr have been more likely, or DI resurging to take back the top spot?

Also, what were your thoughts on my being able to recruit Avster and you never getting him to join DF ?

@Homedawg I know a lot of people had differing opinions on the role of head warlord over the years.  Being one that held the rank, what did you see your role as during your time with it?
