So I recovered an old hard drive from 2009 and found some interesting conversations that I dont remember having with Death (DF founder) and Brenthoffman (Original DF official) about leaving DF and starting a new clan less focused on activity and more focused on having fun as a small group. This conversation took place around the beginning of the "crash war" and slightly after Kim/Lego retired. If this clan did open, I think it would have attracted a decent # of DF members to join during a relatively low morale time with new leadership still finding their place. How do you guys think this would have impacted RS clanning history? Does DF survive a mass leaving in the beginning of the crash war? Does the 24 hour fight ever happen? Does the crash war even go on? I was pretty removed from the clan world when the crash war was going on, so I'm interested to hear what crash war vets think. The surprise alliance with kor stands out as one of those moments that really divided the clan. Not a whole lot to say about it that hasnt been said before. The move ticked off half the clan and all of Valor, who we were already allies with. IIRC, Death didnt consult with Valor or officials in DF when the decision was made. Ultimately all of our alliances blew up and we went on to have one of the best rivalries with kor. I dont think DF gets to #1 as quick as we did if not for that rivalry. This one isnt much of a conspiracy theory, but losing any fight would always result in a private megathread of members pissed off at officials for calling off the fight. No matter how bad we may be been getting beat the members never wanted to take an L. The threads would often end up getting locked and someone would almost always get bantarded for a day for doing/saying something dumb. Personally, I love seeing the passion, but this probably wasnt healthy for the clan.
