So I recovered an old hard drive from 2009 and found some interesting conversations that I dont remember having with Death (DF founder) and Brenthoffman (Original DF official) about leaving DF and starting a new clan less focused on activity and more focused on having fun as a small group. This conversation took place around the beginning of the "crash war" and slightly after Kim/Lego retired. 

If this clan did open, I think it would have attracted a decent # of DF members to join during a relatively low morale time with new leadership still finding their place. 

How do you guys think this would have impacted RS clanning history? Does DF survive a mass leaving in the beginning of the crash war? Does the 24 hour fight ever happen? Does the crash war even go on? I was pretty removed from the clan world when the crash war was going on, so I'm interested to hear what crash war vets think.

If you had to choose a leader beside @True 2k8to lead DF who would you choose? This is a tough question because I wasnt around near the end of the True era, murray seems to be doing fine. I also would have been fine with seeing True close DF.

The surprise alliance with kor stands out as one of those moments that really divided the clan. Not a whole lot to say about it that hasnt been said before. The move ticked off half the clan and all of Valor, who we were already allies with. IIRC, Death didnt consult with Valor or officials in DF when the decision was made. Ultimately all of our alliances blew up and we went on to have one of the best rivalries with kor. I dont think DF gets to #1 as quick as we did if not for that rivalry. 

This one isnt much of a conspiracy theory, but losing any fight would always result in a private megathread of members pissed off at officials for calling off the fight. No matter how bad we may be been getting beat the members never wanted to take an L. The threads would often end up getting locked and someone would almost always get bantarded for a day for doing/saying something dumb. Personally, I love seeing the passion, but this probably wasnt healthy for the clan.

On January 2nd, 2006, Ex. DF Council Zinx was mistakenly accused of Key logging other members by posting an YTMND link about Lindsay Lohan Naked on the spam forums. It was meant to be a joke by Zinx, the link was a face of a very freighting little girl that came up, and the animation made a screechy type of noise to frighten people. Oddly, a few members of the clan were mysteriously key logged after clicking the link. This started a huge crisis in the clan; many members left because of the distrust and fear of the clan and thought they were also going to be key logged; other unloyals left as well because of the snowball effect. About 10-15 members left that very night and a few others left the next day, including one of our Warlords and Founder. The situation couldn't get any worse because at the same weekend, Death240, our leader was on a 2 day vacation and no-one in clan had the authority and trust of the members to control the situation. DF was in a serious crisis and was on the very brink of closing down, the whole clan was chaotic and demanded to know more about what happened. Not until a few days later, Death came back from his vacation and quickly learns about what happened, and the situation was calmed down. Zinx had been proven innocent of all key logging accusations. The mystery was never solved, whether the members were really key logged by chance or not and could even possibly be a setup to bring him down as many members disliked Zinx because of his attitude and personality, it would still remain a secret. Zinx felt betrayed and hurt by the clan after the incident and left the clan a few days later.
