It's basically a temporary mode, 5x xp initially, with a perk you can choose, and start off only locked to misthalnin+karamja.. iron-man like rule of no trading people, so you obtain stuff yourself etc... but as you complete "tasks" you unlock further perks/"relics" - like 2x melee speed, choose slayer task, and the xp rates go up as you progress up to 15x... and then unlock further areas you have to make decisions on which you can unlock, e.g. fremmy area, mortyania etc. I would never start an iron man and hate the idea of this but honestly its the best RS gameplay experience I've had since I actually was hooked to the game outside of clanning back in 2010. The perks, unlimited run, xp speed, drop rate modifier and all make it amazing. It's basically not far off like an official pserver lmao. You get league points based on tasks/, which you can use in the main game to buy certain fashionscape items/house decors, one of the costumes which at the start of leagues the last season one was about 50m? So everything does get deleted but you do get something out of it.
