Do you still consider Last Clan Standing/Ending opts as the best way to determine a win? No If no, what would you suggest instead? Introduce some form of metric that is accumulated *over time*. Ending opts does not give you a holistic view of how a fight panned out since anyone can return in <2 minutes. Last fall I decided to build out my own solution to this problem which would involve clan members using a RuneLite plugin that would act as observers for kill/death events in-game. Those events would be pushed to an ingestion pipeline and malicious events would be weeded out based off certain heuristics compared to other legitimate events in the current time frame. I don't play anymore so I never actually bothered talking to many people about it Could non returning fights ever be an option again? Maybe if two clans fought in an environment where there's nothing to lose, but when does that ever happen? There is always some form of politics attached with fights, so probably not. Do we even need to have a clear cut winner anymore? This is a poor question. We haven't had tools to prove a clear cut winner other than media which can be mutated to push a narrative by both parties. If the option existed to have an objective metric/source of truth for outcomes of fights, then there would be an extremely different culture. The culture for clear cut winners is derived off of what people have access to in the present. If there is more information exposed that paints the picture better, then the culture would adapt accordingly. What do you think contributed to the rise of the "Last Clan Standing" mentality?
