surprised they haven't been doing this for years (assuming they haven't to some degree though i'd not be surprised if they had)

either way i'm fine with this don't see an issue with it and don't see a reason for people to complain other than if they need to cheat to play the game lol

Saw this a couple of days ago. People were kind of worried because Jagex hasn't declared any boundaries for the Section 5 update because even simple overlays can now easily be detected if they choose to do so. People on rs3 are slightly freaked out because one of RS3's popular gameplay assistants, a program called Alt1 sort of falls in the same category as most of osrs visual plugins and Jagex hasn't posted any updates on their stance on it.

 

I'm not a fan(huge invasion of privacy despite what it offers) but obviously it doesn't matter. Like any app/program/game on the web these days, if you choose to use it you must accept their TOS. You either comply with those or they throw your shit out with no real set back to themselves. 

 

What will be super interesting to see is how this affects prices and pvp. Let's face it, a lot of people online use visual plugins and ahk as a crutch. How many people are actually going to be able to do a lot of end game pvm content without their crutches? How many clans are going to be able to maintain their quality without plugins that do nearly everything for them?

something tells me a certain clan who already pull 10 and have 1 event a week will be pulling less and having fewer events

Maybe. It depends on how hard Jagex goes with this and if in-game alternatives are potentially provided from some of the more quality of life plugins. 

 

Current day f2p pvp relies on at least some plugins at minimum slightly to make warring as efficient as it is. For instance, did you know that if enough people congregate in one area in either game it reaches the point where right click options start to warp. Granted the numbers have to get insanely high for this to happen, but over here in osrs with entity hider options for randoms and the ability to remove the trade option from right clicks(and the attack option from clan members), you can somewhat avoid that happening.

 

If those options got removed it'd be easy for anyone small group of people to make fights impossible by overcrowding them with lower level accounts.

will be interesting to see what jagex will do with this. always thought one of the niftier parts of osrs was how the game can enter a technology age despite being ancient. would be really sad to see that go as this game is creating a lot of inspiration for people to learn and play with new tools

I thought they were already for people getting capes, e.g they saw someone had teamviewer or parsec running when they got the cape

Hopefully they communicate what is/isn't allowed or at least are in communication with the runelite developers so that changes can be made if necessary ( ? ).

trustworthy source told me they have this for rs3 but not for osrs, maybe this is them bringing it to osrs. not sure

as far as i know for capes so far they've just been banning either ones that people fuck up on or log directly into the account or are super obvious like getting it in 90 minutes on first attempt

if they could detected remote programs on osrs for people getting capes i think you guys would be down a man 👀

yeah for sure and i think it also depends on what path they end up taking with their own game client and what they plan to add / when they plan to ban other clients because if they add something to their own client i doubt they'll end up banning anyone for using it on another client beforehand, but guess we'll see. it looks like to at least some extent they've  been hitting people using autoswitchers and shit a bit harder as evidenced by a handful of accounts getting banned in various multi clans (including evizu's main lol), as well as single pkers/pvp world pkers getting hit, but they would obviously need to keep that up too. it will be interesting for sure assuming there's any significant change from how it's been in the past
