theyre called the beatles cause they were influenced by buddy holly and the crickets. They thought the name was so unique\cool they decided to name them after some sort of bug, hence the beatles. John lennon was a straight up buddy holly fan boy btw.

they are quite good tbh. The beatles did a lot of things in the studio that paved the way for future artists. Even their songwriting is unique when you break it down and study. Their recording utilized a lot of weird effects and overdubs in such a way, not many bands were doing such a thing at the time. If they were, they were not doing it to the extent of the beatles. There’s a book somewhere that discusses the recording/engineering techniques they used to capture certain sounds or the best sounds for drums (having them face the corner).

we cant also forget their live shows... yeah its basically screaming fan girls but hey, money dont discriminate. Alas we get to their songwriting which makes mumbo jumbo lyrics seem like pure gold, to progressions which technically dont make sense yet sound fascinating. In some songs songs like “a day in the life” you can hear a build of an orchestra sounding hectic af only to be ended by a 1 simple chord which completely resonates and makes the song feel finally complete.

also cant forget the big names influenced by the beatles at the time. You basically had a majority of big timers have mad respect for the group and their huge achievements. Those guys would literally go on to influence the next wave and so forth.

tldr: interesting recording techniques, songwriting techniques, catchy songs, etcetc

Not my type of music but can't deny they contributed a lot the music movement in the 60s/70s and changed music forever. This was along with other artists such as Elvis (maybe more 50s), Rolling Stones, The Who etc.
