Mains and pures

For those mentioning the very clear problem of mains / meds (which I agree with) do you think 1 def worlds in the wilderness would solve a lot of the issues, and do you think they could reasonably be implemented without breaking the video game or the wilderness?

As of right now, the pure scene is just a proxy war for the main scene and it looks like a lot of the fights are kind of annoying to be involved in. I agree that the med levels kind of pointless. If mains can attack them why not just mains? Wouldn't that be the meta? 😂

I don't disagree - I think there are a few things that differ and would cause people to want to stay pure.

 

  1. People who like 1v1ing generally want to stay pure - this opens up avenues for more players (i.e. players who create their accs to 1v1, but get recruited to a clan).
  2. Pure fights have a different vibe, which a lot of people like better. At 1-25 defence, you die a lot more quickly, so in F2P, scim pushes/mass sniping are viable in high opts fights. You might be able to see how this would be preferable to a lot of people compared to the box meta (I personally think clean pure fights in F2P are a blast). Because people die faster, you can also legitimately clear clans, where as that is near impossible in the current main scene. Pure CWA also has a different feel and in some ways it's more fast-paced. Understand that pure CWA is a big reason why clans like Rage and Apex aren't main clans.
  3. Not to be understated, but return sets are cheaper. No, I know this isn't a huge deal for most of us, but for new players this is influential.
  4. Overall, mains take more work. Not only are return tabs more expensive, but the wars are often more time consuming, they aren't at a set time every weekend, main clans often have more expectations, etc. Not to mention the general toxicity a lot of pure clans see mains clans as having.

I'm tired of this being proposed. Not only will it not happen (can you imagine reddit supporting something like that?), but think of the headache it would create. What if someone gets 2 defence? Do you make it a 5 defence cap? What's the limit? It would be trying to tailor somewhat large scale content to a very small subset of players.

Fair enough. This was the part of the reason I said reasonably implemented, because I don't know the answer to these questions or if they could even realistically implement it with those questions looming. I also think even if they ignored reddit and put it into game for integrity reasons assuming it was agreed upon, there'd perhaps be concerns of 1 def pures having worlds off limits to themselves, and other groups would want them too (even if it was just the wilderness and not the entire world itself since I doubt they'd ever make the entire world off limits.) Just wasn't sure if there'd ever been official discussion of it with pure clans or anything, or if there was something I was missing or if it had any real support behind it.

Disgusting dynamitic that has killed the F2P pure scene. Pure clans need to push away these main clans. They only originally shared this dynamic so they wouldn't be crashed by main clans(speaking as a former pure rank who kept communicating with other pure clans.) 

I believe this type of relationship will kill the longevity of certain pure clans.
