Disney Plus Premier Access

I figure most of you guys watch shit ILLEGALLY but what do you guys think of the whole charging a premium to watch a movie early on a subscription service you've already paid for?

Seems like this is a pretty heated debate online atm with Raya: The Last Dragon and Mulan charging $35 to watch recently. Do you think this sort of thing is the future with simultaneous theatre releases?

Personally not interested enough to pay that much on-top of a subscription to watch those movies. But I guess to some extent it makes some sense (to Disney) since the movies would typically be in theatres and unavailable to stream.

I wouldn't necessarily mind paying a premium on top of my subscription for highly anticipated movie, but when I say that I mean like $5-10 extra. Not fucking $35 lol.

It's bullshit, shouldn't have to pay again to see a certain movie on the streaming service. Especially when in another month or so it'll be on the site for free

no that's pretty dumb the main reason you pay for those services is to see stuff, then going and saying pay us again to see this or wait is a bit scummy tbh but they know ppl will do it anyways ofc so i get why they do it lmao

i hope it's not the future but as i said people will do it and they know that, so it's really just a matter of how much they tilt their userbase vs. how much money they make from the premium, if the money outweighs any sort of loss of business of course other platforms will follow suit

Personally don't care enough about movies to pay a huge premium to see it a little early but sounds fair enough imo. Same way you can go see a movie in theaters or wait a year for it to be on TNT or whatever

Tbf, when it comes to Disney movies and such I don't really see $30 USD being that big of a deal. At least not for the target audience. Most of the people who will be buying the premium access will be families. So that's 3, 4, 5 people or more. If you take movie ticket price into consideration, you're saving money tbh. And then there are a lot of spoiled kids out there who make their parents take them to see it AGAIN. But with D+, you can watch it as many times as you want and in the comfort of your own home.

So... Main point is I can see why Disney charges extra, but I don't think another service could likely get away with it (HBO Max is currently releasing theatrical movies for no extra cost (watched Kong vs Godzilla earlier for example)).
