I don't think Yugioh really compares to Pokemon as a franchise/universe etc. Not even close. But I definitely liked Yugioh cards more than Pokemon. Granted I only ever really collected Pokemon cards when I was like 7-9, so my brain never understood how to actually "play" with them. The cards, sure, but everything? Insane. The video games, the anime, the movies (as if there'll ever be a live action Yugioh movie), etc..
