From what I understand, he didn't spy, he just gave up some bogus information that he knew we would have changed by time he intro'd to ROT. Eric was a good guy to have around, but I think he just broke at some point and was probably not cut to be an official so quickly. It's a shame because he was very intelligent. @IMK and I use to call him "Fox" as in Lucius Fox, the guy who makes all of Batman's gadgets. 

 

Basically one day he came to me and was like "I'm being a scumbag, I want to quit this game, I'm joining ROT to detach from the game." I was confused, restricted his access and just didn't tell anyone for a few days. I thought he'd just come back on and be like sorry I was high. He didn't, he joined ROT and yeah he's like still active there lol.

 

Anyone every tried to do anything worth mentioning other than talking shit/starting rumors out of retaliation for being booted from a clan by you? -

 

Been doxxed and seen some weird social media posts. Had people crash me for a long time over getting kicked. Nothing too crazy though 🙂 

 

Under your leadership did DF ever notably use spies in other clans except for Jim?

 

Yeah for sure, I was definitely more proactive with spies in the RS2 era. I was pretty good at abusing friendships for information, especially with women .. There were some funny ones on top of that though. I inherited Abkb's (VR) brother, Rizzle, as an EOS spy from either Dale or Dennis and essentially paid him with friendship for EOS intel and access to his brother's VR forum account. There was a guy who spied on VR for like 8 months for 20 rune sets and a guy in Solace who spied just to hang out with me for an hour or 2 every week. I think it's fair to say I had some level of intel on basically every clan we needed information from in that era.

Tempest has a larger rank team than the majority of clans (at least currently), which I've heard criticized by non-Tempest before. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of our rank team size (beyond just being able to spread the work out more)?

He's...... nice, but definitely has a fairly big RS ego for no reason. He became a giant fucking meme after @Adam bulled him out of RNG and @Alex and I made like 30 meme's about him.

 

I know i've read a bit about it before but can't remember exact details - I know there was a point where DF basically yeeted all retireds and time based ranks or something like that. Was that your decision or done while you were in leadership of the clan? How did you feel about it? How did the clan/community feel about it? Do you think things could've been done differently? It seems like DF have somewhat reinstated some sort of veteran/retired rank unless i'm misunderstanding their ranking system. 

 

Yeah there was different iterations of this basically, but at the end of the day, there was a huge issues with "retireds" vs inactive retireds. People that would rather not come on forums, play other games etc. versus people that were just too busy to come to fights due to schedules, having kids etc. DF had this problem where we never really defined what this meant prior to when I took over (at least in recent years) and it caused a lot of issues for us. We'd have "retireds" sit on TS all day and DC when we started massing for a fight, or people retire once they hit the 8 month requirement so they could do whatever they wanted. I don't blame people for abusing it. Eventually it became a tool for members to tell officials to fuck off. Stop skipping that event.. nah I'll just retire. 

 

When I took over, I wanted to solve this the best I could. I knew I'd hurt feelings, but I wanted to avoid the issue that essentially killed The Titans IMO. I basically soft removed everyone that stopped logging into forums, including a lot that were AFK for like a year+. I also stop granting retired to people that just wanted to AFK from RS for other games. It hurt feelings, but I felt like it was the best for the clan long-term.

 

I knew there were some negatives letting some of those go to guest, so I made the call to split the retired rank into "Inactive" and "Honored." Honored was essentially for those that retired under the old system to not fuck them over. I knew the rank would mostly die out in time but I wanted to keep it locked to those guys, knowing guys like Bunty and Kiwi would always have presence in our community.

 

Eventually the locked thing became a huge issue. Newer members that wanted to basically AFK on the clan bitched. It was probably the most emotion and bitching I've ever seen between a handful of members. Eventually I had to either remove the rank entirely or let newer member joins and we opted for the latter. I hated it. As time went along it basically died out and we permanent removed it at the end of.... 2016?

 

My biggest regret was not using it as a mends to invite non-annoying ex-DF back into the community. I think there would have been a benefit to reintegrating guys back into the fold, even if it was a glorified friend rank.

Nobody has ever claimed this guy is a good caller, he legitimately dominates every "worst caller" thread since like 2011. I tried to help him when he was DF, even drawing all over videos of his leading like I was John Madden on Sunday Night Football, questioning his insane pile selection. Guys in SE use to always say "nobody is safe" when he called, spamming this meme of a white dot far, far away circled as his pile.

 

I've definitely heard "worse" but he's called for so long for so many teams/clans, so he's really gotten himself in front of a lot of audiences. Idk if it's fitting for VR, they use to have pretty good lineups in their prime.

First.. to exonerate myself.. I basically didn't want to be involved with the forum setup, so I stayed pretty hands off. David/Vene hired Nolan to do our forums and just gave him admin rank on forums before anything important was on it. He used a password he used everywhere else and Wee Man just logged into the forums without anything stopping him, opening up admin and took a screenshot for me.

We're pretty cut and dry with our departures, the impeachment of Bill Clinton was pretty funny. He was dropped in the first 2 CWA rounds for a must-win CWA fight and caused a scene on TS. @Brian unmuted his mic and told him to STFU. No blue dress needed.

Something like that, I think he thought the commitment for Tempest was going to be even lower than we anticipated.

Any who, after seeing what this clan has become in the first year.  What do you aspire Tempest to look like in the next 2-3 years? 

I would have loved if you active during my era my man. 2-3 years is a long time ahead, I try not to think that far in advance for Tempest.

For one, other clans opinions on things like that fall by the wayside. I definitely think we operate much differently than every other clan. It really takes a lot more work when you allow your members a lot more leeway in terms of activity and daily commitments. 

 

You already mentioned it, but a clear advantage is we get to spread the work out. Almost all of our officials team has a lot less time than they did when many years ago, including myself. I think it's much healthier to avoid overworking people and keeping everyone relatively positive about putting in effort for Tempest. Clans that are reliance on smaller teams of busier people can create a really toxic environment. 

 

In addition, I think it's wise to use our collective experience to our advantage, always get different points of view and playing to our own individual advantages. 

 

The biggest disadvantage would potentially be too many cooks in the kitchen, but we've never had that issues. Nobody in our team has an ego problem or anything like that.
