Not much, prob like 100m. By time I had quit RS2 my bank was down to nearly nothing cause I'd really stopped playing (graphics were awful then) and burned up a lot of my supplies.

I really didn't see any circumstance under which I'd be playing. I really had moved on.

Do you think OSRS DI could have done what Tempest does now if we had changed our focus around? We had a lot of full-time workers who might have benefitted from a more laid-back approach to attendance. Most No's on our signups I remember were usually no relating to work, at least mine were.

 

Or were the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the pandemic a much bigger part of the formation of Tempest than just boomers getting together to make a clan?

If we tried that approach we wouldn't have lasted long. People would have joined other clans over DI where they could get more action. The vast majority of people were hungry for events and action then. Maybe some of the older players such as ourselves would have enjoyed a more casual approach to it but we wouldn't have been able to recruit, then not able to compete. After the initial batch of old schooler joiners quit the game we would of been cooked.

 

Tempest only exists because of the pandemic and the WFH situation. The clan world was on life support pretty much. Tempest revived F2P.

 

Expectations are quite low compared to anything back in the day, I'd sum it up as: Don't be a weirdo, don't be a ghost. Generally speaking we already know everyone joining so you don't have to "prove" yourself as such while being Applicant. Just meet the requirements, show up to some events and yea don't be a weirdo or a ghost in the community.

I saw you mention in topic about Metallica100 not being all that, what was he like behind scenes?  I always remember him being insanely active and a lot of people liked him (I assume from Devils), around the DS war time I think a lot of officials were realised for not being all that which I think you've alluded to before where ranks could just be activity based but Metallica always stood out to me but that might just be biased as I talked to him, pie man, j ultima etc daily.

 

What happened with J Ultima if you remember?  I recall him getting kicked and being part of sharks crew for a bit with scex etc.

 

Did you ever make amends with Staton? Did he reappear after he tried to leak private forums or did he vanish, I think like you said before, lack of phones people really did just not log in again and where gone.

 

What happened to the DS leadership?  I assume you'd have a good idea and had access to forums, did they all just truly quit the game and stop playing?  Did metal rock or kidefence try other clans? Did franzk buy p2p? Etc.  I only really used DI forums but again I know people would just quit and then they were gone, but it seemed weird to think DS just dropped off the radar unlike say Stephen/Viper (other DI known rival leaders) etc who would always reappear.

 

Can you or @True 2k8put in the work to find DS leadership for an AMA?  Always had the DI side of history, I think it'd make a good one, or maybe ROT

I'd agree he was pretty active and well liked but he didn't know how to be an official really. When he didn't agree with leadership decisions he'd tell members about it. Ultimately that's what led to him being kicked, he leaked posts from leaderboards to Zarrix who in turn leaked them to Sam Egnar/Franzk. Just poor decisions like that. Feel like he was kinda naive in some ways and just went along with his crowd of "supporters" rather than doing the right thing.

 

I don't really remember. I don't see a kick topic for him so he probably just left? A lot of his friends would have been AG etc anyway so probably makes sense he left.

 

Nah, I don't think we ever buried the hatchet so to speak. He never really reappeared after that incident. Might have been a case for him to get retired rather than just be guested but there was some reason we went with guesting.

 

Metal Rock and Kidefence straight up quit. Franzk was (and still is) around. I'm actually in a discord with Kidefence but he doesn't speak as far as I can see. I dunno they said they were moving on from the game to focus on RL etc, hard for me to say otherwise but they would have lost to DI in the next couple of fights if the momentum kept going the way it was. Better to go out on top maybe. It seemed like they didn't want Franzk to continue with the leadership of the clan.

 

I think @True 2k8 asked Franzk before but wasn't interested. It's probably hard for people to remember stuff that long ago at this stage.

Yea I knew. I took measures to ban him for a period of time but eventually didn't care. It was something stupid Eric did that got us hacked. I think he left his SSH key somewhere on the open internet.
